Session1
  • Introduction to meetings
  • Asking for and giving opinions
  • Agreeing and disagreeing

You will learn:

  1. some key concepts for conducting meetings in English.
  2. the set-phrases you can use to share opinions, to agree and disagree.
  3. how to use set-phrases, and some common errors to avoid.
  4. some set-phrases you can use to agree and disagree politely in meetings.
Session2
  • Clarifying

You will learn

  1. how to clarify your meaning when other people misunderstand you.
  2. how to ask for clarification when you have misunderstood something.
  3. you will also have lots of pronunciation practice, and practice of clarifying.
  4. the language for being vague.
Session3
  • Structuring an argument
  • Organising information

You will learn

  1. how English speakers organise their ideas, and how this is different from the way Chinese speakers organise their ideas.
  2. how to organise your ideas and how to give a mini -report to a meeting.
  3. This will help you make sure your meeting briefings are clearly understood.
  4. you will have lots of pronunciation practice, and practice of briefing meetings.
  5. the language for talking generally.
Session4
  • Interrupting and dealing with interruptions

You will learn:

  1. how to interrupt politely and appropriately.
  2. how to deal with interruptions when someone interrupts you, and how to return to the topic when you have dealt with the interruption.
  3. the language for talking specifically.
Session5
  • Suggesting and proposing
  • Rejecting and accepting
  • Suggestions and proposals

You will learn:

  1. how to make suggestions and proposals in a meeting.
  2. how to accept and reject proposals politely and appropriately.
  3. the language for expressing different degrees of politeness.
